Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
I accidentally reload a character model with animation linked to it (Target Object) and it delete all keyframe in every linked animations, make every animation useless.
Is this some sort of bug or features?

RE: Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
Hello,
Could you please provide sample files and steps to reproduce the issue?
I'll be happy to investigate this.
I've tested the case on my own data before and it worked fine.
Your issue can occur if the new skeleton does not have the bones from the animations.
Thank you

RE: Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
Hmm, it seems that I reloaded a file that doesn't have bone and got keyframes removed, though I reload again with bones but keyframes already removed.
Is it possible that, reloading another bone names or deleting bones shouldn't remove keyframes, in case of accident so animation wouldn't break especially if animation are made in EE.
By the way, I can't seem to clear Target Object from animation as it keep set back when closing animation window.

I'm uploading a fix for Windows right now.

This is a bit tricky to do, I'll have to think how to approach this.

RE: Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
Hi,
I have an idea how to solve this, if the object being reloaded doesn't have a skeleton, then the old skeleton will be kept, this will keep your animations, however you will still lose skinning information because that's stored per-vertex in the mesh.

RE: Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
So, if I reload old character or another with same skeleton with their skins (same settings just different mesh and skinning), will that animation work with both or only old one?

RE: Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
Hi,
As long as there will be skeletons present, with compatible naming / BONE_TYPE then the animations will be kept.
You can try it by first backing up your project if you wish, create a new empty project, select all elements from the old one, and do "copy to another project"

RE: Reload Character remove all linked animation keyframes
Reloading any file with same bone name work great, but not quite for other or same characters with same BONE_TYPE but different name.
Let's say, I rename RightArm to ArmRU, both will be detected as UpperArm 0.
Reload same file, ArmRU will become RightArm again (and UpperArm 0), animations still work fine.
But if I Adjust Bone Orientations before rename to ArmRU will make that keyframes gone.
