it is very different of UDK, with a much better workflow and editor supporting multiple projects etc. and no unrealscript, you can work in VS2012-3(EE too!) in C++. there are lot of introductory video...

hi is EE1 okay with VS2013? currently I use VS2010 but should upgrade to VS2013 soon. I know EE2 does support VS2013 but I would like to work further with EE1 for a while...

no , it's definitely a 64bit Win7. maybe VS2010 installed wrongly? it's in Program Files (x86) apparently I can run scripts only as Win32 from VS2010C++EE, but the x64 option is there.

a (30 day) trial version would be fine (or a feature limited). imo it has good new features. but without undo/redo I do not buy it, I make too many mistakes :)
