Problem with child objects in world editor
Hi all

Quick question: I have a character mesh, and a new Mesh of a Body Armour...

I add the new mesh as a child object to the character in the world editor... I see a weird sphere, but the objects graphics are not showing. Any chance I'm doing it wrong?

Also, how can I position something precisely within the world editor?

Thanks for the help

RE: Problem with child objects in world editor
Hi,

The child-objects are not intended to be visually placed/displayed.
the sphere was for old debugging purpose (you can set only child objects position with it, and nothing else)

please think of child-objects as items in the backpack.

For precisely positionin main objects (not child objects) you can click the "move button" on top menu, it will display object position window.

also zooming will make the movement slower.

Hm, okay, now I can position the armour suit mor precisely. Still it seems its nowhere accurate or slow enough, no matter how close I zoom in.

Also, how do I attach this additional object to the original character object so it moves with it?

Are there better tools in the model editor? Or am I better off positioning stuff like that in a 3D Editor liker blender before I import my stuff to the engine?

shift+rmb makes movement slower

you should model your armor in the same editor as the character model, setup same skinning (after that: there are tutorials for displaying player+armor)
