+1, I think was already requested at some point, it would be very useful to have the same object and just put different materials on it in the world instead of duplicating it for each material you want.

Yeah for the sake of speed I wanna edit objects materials while I'm making the level like walls , houses , grounds ,rocks etc

I don't complain with speed, I'm with it for the sake of memory. Why create a new object when it's just the same as another one except it has a different colour? (well, texture; all the same). That' why i think this feature really needs to be implemented.

No, I am more of a programmer. Hence my obsession for efficiency. But I know the basics about modeling. Not much besides that though.

RE: Drag drop material on objects
Hi! smile

Yeah I thought about it as well, I didn't copy the functionality from EE 1.0 because for 2.0 I wanted to implement new system - object skins/variations.

Because EE 1.0 had the option to override the material, however only one material was forced for entire mesh.

For 2.0 I want to implement a better system, that allows to specify different variations of the same model - by specifying different materials for each mesh part (and not just 1 mtrl for the whole mesh).

I've added this to the roadmap as-
[*]skin system for objects (variations of the same object with different materials for each mesh part)
