uploading an object into the esenthel editor
okay i'm just trying to upload one of the free models that i downloaded from esenthel's "Resources" area.

you can see the esenthel editor with the tutorial project open and the fantasy models/buildings/castle entrance directory
http://postimg.org/image/f5e330dnf/

i create and highlight an empty object called "Object 1" and i click and drag the "castle entrance" folder over to the editor window
http://postimg.org/image/5i8saybm5/

and then you can see that the names for the different object features are carried over but they're all blank.

RE: uploading an object into the esenthel editor
actually i was wrong, i'm getting the same error again and i don't understand why. it might be that i'm overlooking something simple that would be clear to me if i understood the software better but i paid money so that i wouldn't have to learn the workings of a game engine from the bottom up. i'll post here again if i find a solution but in the meantime if anyone can offer help i'd appreciate it.

Esenthel engine imports models and allows you to add materials to the specific sections of the model, the Castle Entrance model you are trying to import consists of a few objects and each of the objects has a name (Bridge Floor, Bridge Post, Bridge Walls and Gate). If you did not know already the model you are trying to use is being imported without materials for some reason, if you click on one of the components such as "BridgeFloor" and add in a nice stone texture into the "Color" box it will assign that specific texture to that section of the model.

Also I do not create a new object class then replace it like you do. I just drag my models into the empty white space below the green EsenthelEngine code folder and it automatically imports and sets up the object.

RE: uploading an object into the esenthel editor
the weird thing is that i was able to get this working temporarily and get objects in the world editor. the only thing i can think of that changed since then is an update to esenthel. i also tried uploading a model from blender but i get the same error. i thought about the possibility of this being a graphics issue because i was having a problem with my computer not recognizing the video card i have installed in it but that doesn't make sense since none of the tutorial objects give me any trouble.

Hi,
Perhaps you're trying to import the *.obj file? Please just drag and drop the *.mesh file, just tested this on the castle entrance model and it works smile

RE: uploading an object into the esenthel editor
okay i tried this on my laptop and i get the same error. i'm going to assume this is a graphics issue so i'm going to have to go out and get a new crappier video card that will be compatible with my motherboard. has anybody been able to use the esenthel editor on a laptop without a gpu?

You just don't have any textures applied...

Import the textures as well, and drag them in the material.
