The plants are not 100% scientifically accurate, but I tried to get close to the real ones.. this is just a sample of the average quality I managed to achieve. The textures aren't completely done either, for demo purposes I downsized them to 1024, but the originals are of high resolution so they could be suitable even for macro close-ups
I'm thinking of putting some more effort into this and putting it up as an affordable pack, thoughts?

Hi there,

A lot of people (myself included) are in need of a way of copy/pasting areas + objects to a new location. Either in the same world, or in a different one.

This tool lets you do exactly that! You can find it right here, in the Esenthel Store: http://www.esenthel.com/?id=store&item=117

I believe that a tool like this is pretty essential in a level designer's workflow. And since it is also a first version (it's likely that there are bugs), I don't want to charge anything for it!

I do want to stress that this is the very first version. I focused on functionality, so the GUI can definitely use a re-design at some point. However, I wanted to get a bit of feedback on the core of the tool first.

There will be more updates to this, so let me know what you think should be added or improved!

Note: This first version is the compiled .exe version of the tool. I thought that this would be the easiest to work with. However, I'll probably switch to distributing the source too at some point.

Here is a set of standard Esenthel animations for a Biped skeleton. These work with Arteria characters. I can't claim they will work with other Biped characters.

Suggestion for using these in Esenthel is to export each animation from Fragmotion to ms3d format before importing to Esenthel. Pay attention to the FPS when exporting from Fragmotion to ms3d.
Keep in mind I am not an modeler or animator so I can't claim these to be quality animations but some may find these helpful anyway.

Hello again.

I recently found a large collection of free low poly plants at www.loopix-project.com. After importing them all, tweaking materials, setting up objects at several scalings, making brush lists etc. etc. I realized that all those little steps were still a lot of work for such a big collection.

So i mailed the author and asked if it was ok to redistribute the esenthel versions of his models on my website. I just got the permission and have added a download to my site.

The models are mostly very low poly, and obviously a bit older. But they're great for filling up a scene with lots and lots of plants without a noticable performance impact. Most of them do not include a physics model. I only created one for the trees because the others are quite narrow or small. I've included a few billboards when i saw the need for it, but since I didn't use all parts of the collection in my gameworld just yet, there are quite a few models that still need tweaking (particulary the weeds and woodlands folders.)

If any of you has any ideas how we could improve this collection, please let us start a discussion here. I think this might be a useful model collection for many users, so let's make it better!

Every so often I run across a tool or so that has some potential and often times it is a free tool.

Lately I been working on some plants and wanted to make a few different kinds of plants just for fun. Since I am no artist I have to use programming and texturing I can get free or very low cost. Most of the texturing I do use is from cgtextures. A long time ago I downloaded Plantstudio (which is free now) but I was still a bit behind the curve on what to do with it since I had no clue about UV mapping at the time. Last week I started playing around with it and made a few plants.

This is a very unique program because you can make 2 plants and cross breed them to make several varieties. The program does not UV map the meshes it exports so you have to manually do it but the results are worth it.

Here are a couple screens of plants I made and cross bred. Each plant took a couple hours to make from design to final mesh.

I also started playing around with ngplant since I have a bit more confidence in using it now. This program is another free open source one that is just amazing if you take the time to learn how to use it.

Of course noting is complete unless we have a video. In this small scene there are two grass models I made form the creative commons public domain images, a shrub from ngplant, a tree from blender, 8 different plants from plantstudio.
Although EE comes with some excellent tutorials and the community is very friendly and helpful, there seems to be some people who are absolute beginners with it or who wish to add to their skill set so I figured I'd post a link to a free and thorough online tutorial for beginners with absolutely no knowledge of C++. I figured it may be helpful for some people.

Hey there.

I have read some posts and i was inspired to write something simple for people to work with, of course it's not perfect. But i've written it to be open and flexible, for people to choose what they wish to do with the client once they've authenticated.

Im sure many people are writing their auth server built into the Esenthel engine for the sake of sanity. But i wrote this for people as somewhere to start, or just to show people how this kind of architecture looks.

In the zip includes versions for Python 3.2 (yay!) and 2.6 (boo!).

Source

I'd like to have had some sexy token passing from client to gserver and then comparing but thats beyond the scope of what this resource is. I'd also like some encryption for transferring passwords (apparently md5 doesnt work for Python so well any more...), and also maybe a C++ example client so it makes the resource easier to port to your projects.

But, those are all for the future.

in case someone would like to have a 'concept'-character that doesn't look like a fighter or somewhat, i thought i'd share this one with you. It's a max file i found on http://www.3dfiggins.com/gallery.php?id=38&item=69#69 but i did some work adjusting it to make it work with an existing skeleton and standard animations. Here's a screenshot showing how it looks in-game. (from the back, it also has a nose :-)
