Do I need to buy the source code edition in order to recode networking for an mmo or would the basic one engine work w/o the source? Im confused on the differences of what I need to do and what one I need to buy.

1) You need to buy EE 2.0 license to unlock all functionality of the Editor and to be able to make commercial games.

2) Optionally you can buy extra "game demo tutorials" from the store (like ERPG2 or EMMO), they are optional, they are intended to be just bigger tutorials on how to do things.
