Where is the problem? Try to send the overlay app commands, but recieving wrong value .

a.left() for size also doesn't work

You're trying to send raw memory data of the File class object.
You need to do something like:
Memt<Byte> temp;
temp.setNum(file.left());
f.get(temp.data(), temp.elms());
..send..(temp.data(), temp.elms());
