RE: First World Showcase
I see that you already got your own character in there. It looks like you are learning the engine pretty fast. Your river looks really good. I havent experimented with different river textures yet. I like yours better than the one that comes with esenthel. For my world I would choose a different shade...but thats because its a different world than yours and it would need it, but it works for yours. When i decide to change river textures and getting my river to look different, If i have any problems, I might ask you about it. Good Job. Keept it up.

RE: First World Showcase
It's looking very good indeed.
Just one tiny objection if I may; as I've grown at the countryside a lot and I know my way around forests, I should tell you trees always grow vertically, regardless of the terrain they're on. The only reason for a tree to be tilted is a recent (recent in a tree's life, months, maybe years) landslide. Otherwise, they always reach up.

About that... very nice trees you've got there! You've made them yourself?

RE: First World Showcase
If you want certain tree's that could grow in an angle "but straight", you should look at the cocos nucifera, which can grow in a certain angle. (But it will not fit your current scene :( )

RE: First World Showcase
Thanks for the reply's!

I made those trees in TreeIt a tree generator that works perfect!
I was looking for a good tree editor/generator and I did test some and this one was very cheap and even better then the most high priced tools ^^
(Price isn't telling how good a product is grin)

RE: First World Showcase
I use blender with its sappling addon for my trees. You should check it out. It's fun to play with.

RE: First World Showcase
You should place the trees more vertically; not along the ground normal. pfft

RE: First World Showcase
Yup, the same about last time, tilted trees aren't very natural. A bit too many tree stumps, and also, to be more realistic they should get smaller in size the higher they are on the tree.

Lovely vegetation, really love the way all your leaves look.

RE: First World Showcase
I rather like the look of the tilted trees and the stumps. Things like that can add to interesting back-story of the world. Maybe those mountains popped up over night not long ago? It really adds a lot of character, I think.
Or, if you are going for the realism, often times in areas with a lot of ground movement(rock/mud slides, earth quakes, etc) the trees tend to be crooked. Check out trees next to blast zones like volcanoes, past bomb explosions and the like and you will see they are crooked from the force of the blast, and trees often survive all these conditions.

RE: First World Showcase
Personally I've never had much trouble with textures; I just take my photo camera and picture stuff in forests and mountains. I'm pretty sure that way I don't need to worry about licenses on my textures. Of course, they often require a tiny bit of adjustments to remove the pattern aspect or maybe to cartoon-ify them to fit your game.
I'm not good at this part, but my friend seems to manage all these in GIMP very well, which is also free. (we're poor grin)
