Is there a way to change what game code is called from the play command?

Yes but that would require having some parts of the World Editor source codes, which are currently available only to the professional license owners.

I'm still working on upgrading the World Editor, so lets wait and see what happens.

Right now collaborative world editing is in development and is 50% finished (editing worlds by multiple designers simultaneously). This function will be available to everybody.
