Meters of a Area
Hello,
how big is an area in meters?
Need to know this because this is for a full-scale map of Austria.
Yours sincerely

RE: Meters of a Area
Well Austria seems to be 83,871 km^2, that means more than 5 million (5.119.080) chunks even with the big chunk size (128mx128m).
Even if Esenthel can handle the amount of storage needed Austria measures 600 Km in Length that means at least 300km if you place the world (0,0,0) in the middle and 300.000 units i think will be more than what a 32bit floating point coordinate system can handle. I guess Esenthel can answer on the max distance that the coordinate system will start being inaccurate.

RE: Meters of a Area
As far as i know, float can handle about 3000000x3000000 meters sized worlds (with precision of 2).
I'm not sure if it's possible to use local area coordinates for calculations (not world wide), there are such functions in headers.

RE: Meters of a Area
It just depends on the scale you want to use... if you use 1 esenthel unit = 1 meter, you will have areas of: 32mx32m ; 64mx64m ; 128mx128m.
But you may consider to use your own scale... for example 1/2, then you rescale all your models to half-size, and it duplicates the actual areas duplicates in size.
So, by defining your own scale, it just up to you!
