Set the material "Tech" (technique) to "Blend Light" and then modify the A (alpha = transparency = opacity) slider.
However, I think the importer should recognize the transparent material automatically and set the technique accordingly...

Thanks. I so understand that in 3d max to create a material there is no sense. The importer does not support the majority of properties?

No I think it support almost everything from diffuse color (map) to bumpmap and more.
Try creating a simple scene of objects with not even any materials applied (just the helper colors): The color will be imported!
Just not transparency as it seems.
