Flight Sim
Hi,
I am evaluating engines for my flightsim project. Therefore I have a few questions regarding Esenthel:
1.) Terrain Size: Is it possible to have a terrain of say 600kmx600km? What about floating point issues then?
2.) Terrain rendering speed/visibility: having such a big landscape as in question 1.), would it still be possible to render it fast with a visibility of around 50nm? Would the volumetric clouds also render that far?
Thanks
Andi

RE: Flight Sim
You can just use different scaling system
for example don't use 1 as meter (EE default)
but use 1 as 100 meters or something.
Like make some terrain, measure performance with the view range set to high.
Then accordingly make your plane with small scale, so it looks like the terrain is big.

RE: Flight Sim
thanks for the answers. sounds already promising. A few more questiosn regarding the world editor:
Is it possible to import heightmaps? Say I generate one huge heightmap covering all europe, could I divide it then in quadraticc images and then load each image in one area? Will the engine then create seamless transitiosn from one heightmap to the next?
