Mesh slicing
Hey! I've recently came up with an idea for cool ship disappearing system but it doesn't seem to be easy to achieve.
A ship would enter a portal (that would be an animated 2D plain). In order for that delusion to work, I'd have to check how much the ship is into the portal and slice its mesh, so it looks like it's entering the portal (not just going through it and coming out the other side).
Another idea I came up with is probably way more difficult to do as it would be "Portal game-like". I mean that an actual portal (not a plain) appears to a different 3d area that you can see into just from one side.
You guys have any ideas on how to achieve that kind of effect?

Not sure on the first but on the second I'd render the output of a camera onto a quad giving the illusion of a portal through to where the camera was viewing
