Yeah my mouse has tilt wheel and EE doesn't work with them.

I don't have a mouse that can do it for the moment so I can't check it out, but I think that 'sidescrolling' is implemented as 2 extra mousebuttons. So just as you can press the mouse wheel down and have it act like a button, you can also press it left and right.
