RE: Platforms
I came back to developing OpenGL renderer and it finished with success (all features except tesselation are supported).
I've currently ordered a MacBook, as soon as I'll receive it, I'm continuing with the Mac port.

When that succeeds I'm proceeding to iPhone/iPad

RE: Platforms
That's awesome, well done! Does this mean users will be able to choose their renderer at runtime, like with Irrlicht/Ogre?

OpenGL will be used only for other platforms (DirectX is much better)

RE: Platforms
I don't think iPhone/iPad development is even an option anymore. Apple just updated their developer license to prevent Adobe from making Flash CS5 possible to target the iPhone/iPad.

Quote:3.3.1 — Applications may only use Documented APIs in the manner prescribed by Apple and must not use or call any private APIs. Applications must be originally written in Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript as executed by the iPhone OS WebKit engine, and only code written in C, C++, and Objective-C may compile and directly link against the Documented APIs (e.g., Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited).

As far as I can tell, this means that having Esenthel on the iPhone/iPad is a no-go. You can read more about it here.

RE: Platforms
thanks for the info, its somewhat disturbing news, I see I'll need to do some research on that. I hope it won't prevent the port

RE: Platforms
There is a mention of Unity games being restricted, but it also says that Apple may selectively enforce the terms, so perhaps there is a chance.

Just another reason to hate Apple. I was looking forward to seeing Flash on the iPhone (even though I don't have one). grin

RE: Platforms
let me know if there are any more news on that case smile
I guess we need to wait until things settle, the license is possibly not yet in effect, and possibly may change to avoid some anti-trust regulations by the government.

RE: Platforms
What about Android or Symbian (or even Bada) port? Both of them support OpenGL ES 2.0 and are open source, so there are no stupid restrictions like those Apple one's.
Honestly, i really like Android and it's popularity grows every day.

RE: Platforms
Apple will always mold things to make them more money. Android will beat Apple the same way Windows did twenty years ago (in my opinion). More friendly terms and the customization of the software will make Android surpass Apple.

Also, most people that are going to play games on Linux are going to use Wine anyways. Direct Linux support is rarely offered (at least on the games I play, which are old ones usually). While a fan of Linux it is not a gaming platform. If the game runs in Wine I see little reason to make it run directly in Linux.

RE: Platforms
It's on the Road Map but, unless you are a member of the XBox Live Marketplace you must code in XNA. This will likely slow down development for XBox.
