how to get softer shadows/without jaggies?
Hi Grzegorz,
I'm now trying my level without any lightmaps and only using EE's dynamic lighting but I get shadows with lots of "jaggies". Is there a way to make them softer?
Thanks for any help or tips
regards,
Alvaro

Re: how to get softer shadows/without jaggies?
Try incleasing shadowmap size ,1024 for example.
My PC:
Proccessor: Core2 Quad Q9650
Ram: 4GB
HD: 500 Gb
Video Card: 285GTX 1Gb
Microsoft Windows Vista

Re: how to get softer shadows/without jaggies?
D.shdMapSize - shadow map sieze
D.shdMapNum - number of shadow maps (but this is by default set to maximum)
D.shdJitter - shadow jittering
D.shdSoft - shadow softing
setting ViewportFull.range in InitPre() also makes a difference (the smaller the range the better shadow quality)
as I recall these are all the options which can help reduce blockiness

So Esenthel engine can't handle a large view range (?)

Yes it can,
I'm just saying that it affects the shadows quality

Re: how to get softer shadows/without jaggies?
what setting are you currently using?
1. viewport range
2. number of shadow maps
3. shadow map size
what kind of viewport range would you want to have?
the only thing I could add to the engine is to limit the "shadowing range"
for example having viewport range = 10 000
limit shadowing range to = 1 000
0..1000 range will have shadows
1000..10 000 range will not have shadows

This last option would be great
