i think to do this use *.x export

detail info please look at "EsenthelEngineSDK\English.chm" -> meshes -> importing

most suggested is Collada DAE , or ActorX PSA PSK

I didnt have any problems with Collada or ActorX.
If you have some problems then please send me the source .max file and I will investigate, thanks
