Esenthel Engine Requirements
Hello,

I am new to this engine and did not see anywhere a listing of special
hardware and or software requirements to develop with this engine.

I.e. Are only NVidia based cards supported?
Do we need to have Visual Studio 2008 installed if you are just the
artist of the team and not the programmer?

Many thanks.

Re: Esenthel Engine Requirements
all you need a graphic card that supports directX (which most graphic cards do), and a computer powerfull enough to run, what ever you are developing!
and why would you need visual studio if you are not a programmer? i dont suppose you are gonna make art by placing vertecies, with code?

Re: Esenthel Engine Requirements
Hey there.. you'll actually need a video card that supports shader 2.0 to run the engine... I believe that means nVidia 6 series or higher ( not sure what the bottom end on ATI cards is)

Re: Esenthel Engine Requirements
everyone, who would want to do 3D development, of any kind, would have a video card better than that...
who would attempt to do 3D graphics on a komador 64? pfft

Re: Esenthel Engine Requirements
I am sorry I know better, I should have posted my PC spec's

1.2 Tera Byte Raid (4)-WD VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb|
(2) - DIAMOND 4870X2PE52GXOC Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR5 PCI-E 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported|

Case -ZALMAN PRO GS-1000-TT Titanium Aluminum|
Power Supply - Ultra X3 ULT40070 1600-Watt- ATX, SATA-Ready, PCI-E Ready

The reason I ask was when we tried to install it as asking for the NVIDIA Physx drivers.
Is there a install doc that walks you thru the install so that I may make sure I am doing
everything in order and correctly?

And the reason I asked about needing VS2008 to be installed is, Some other game engines
require that you have it installed to be able to run their tools.

BTW Thank you both for the fast response.

Re: Esenthel Engine Requirements
remember not only to download the physX SDK, but also the physX software!
also make sure that if your trying to run a project that requires physX, that the "NxCooking.dll" is in the project folder!

and can you tell me when you get the error, and what excactly the error message is?

Re: Esenthel Engine Requirements
Hi, and welcome to the forums

PhysX SDK isn't needed, only PhysX System Software is required

the installation is described in EsenthelEngineSDK.rar\English.chm\Introduction\Installation

If PhysX won't work please try this version <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_8.09.04_whql.html">http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_8.09.04_whql.html</a><!-- m -->
