Graphics cards & physx
Hi

Now I have GeForce 9800GT graphics card (and Intel i5 4Cores processor). I want buy Radeon HD 6870. But it doesn't have CUDA and PhysX PPU. Will physX work slower on Radeon? I can also buy nvidia gtx 470 but radeon 6870 is better for me.

EDIT: Ah, Esenthel, move it to Offtopic->Hardware

RE: Graphics cards & physx
PhysX can always run on CPU.
As for GPU acceleration I've heard there are some hacks/patches/plugins/drivers but not sure.

only one word 'CUDA'

If you know CUDA, it's better for you to buy nVidia card.

RE: Graphics cards & physx
Physx doesn't run on AMD hardware and you need
Link
To make the AMD+Physx Nvidia card to work.

Or a motherboard with the Hydra chip from LucidLogix.
Some MSI and ASUS motherboards got it, dont know about other brands.

PhysX doesn't work slower, its just that you get no support if it doesn't work or is glitchy.

I'd rather learn OpenCL than CUDA, because locking your project to cater one GPU brand isn't a smart move,

Marked share.

RE: Graphics cards & physx
Thanks for info! I don't need CUDA, if I'll need its functionality, I will choose OpenCL.

My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3, intel i5 (4 cores is enough) and I'll buy Radeon HD 6870 smile and I am happy pfft
