a video of this engine in action
Just want to show some testing I was doing. I have another test in processes that I will put up later this week. (It is going to be awesome) Although the framerate is poor in this video keep in mind the bottleneck is my video card. This card is very slow rendering. Hope to get a new high end card some day but have to work with what I can afford.
Anyway, this video test shows some amazing stuff this engine can do.

I think about the lag is more about the CPU... capturing a video is pretty heavy maybe you can set Fraps assigned to another core e.g 3 or 4.
There is always evil somewhere, you just have to look for it properly.

RE: a video of this engine in action
I have a 2.40GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 and I capture video with Fraps all the time (set to record at 60 fps). It can get a bit choppy at times, depending on what's going on in the scene, but is mostly pretty smooth.

Nope. It is not the CPU. With fraps off I can do maybe 1 frame better. Tested it with performance moniter and CPU never gets past 70%. GPU is the bottleneck. The ATI 3300 is a crappy card.

Nice scale demi, i remember you from the Big world tech forum. gah what a waste of money that was. what are you using for the world creation World machine? are you building the terrain in engine to the same scale as world machine? i havnt figured out how to get it to scale yet myself but it still looks and feels great.

Scale is 1/8th. Using L3DT for the terrain. Took 21 days to process this monster LOL. I decided to use this engine instead of BWT because it just rocks for a one man team. BWT is a great engine but it is aimed at the big houses where Esenthel is aimed at serious hobbyists and big houses. After the terrain painting was put in it made my life soooo much easier.

Looking great Demi, nice work.
Question: on the terrain painting how did you get this to work? Is that done in L3DT or in Esenthel?

RE: a video of this engine in action
The terrain was painted with mosaic alphas that I made in L3DT and applied in Esenthel. It took a bit of work to figure it out.
How-to:
If you try to blend a terrain with no base material it gets saturated. Mesh the terrain with a dark base material such as dirt. When you import materials use the blend function and set the blend to .7 - .8. Since there is a material now that will blend, the materials applied do not get saturated.
