Re: Interresting By Engine
It seems that Microsoft has removed 2008 March SDK from their website
I'll update the engine soon to be based on the latest SDK, but if you've found the March version, I'm curious if it'll work.
Thanks

it contains the old shader loading, and new shader loading,
both exit showing time needed to load graphics, please post both results.
On my system its 1.2 seconds
For the 2 exe, "Error, 34.xxx Sec"

Re: Interresting By Engine
Thanks, I'll try to think of some solution, it's weird that it takes so long, for most of computers its about 1-5 seconds.
Have you changed something in your system?
-windows services
-windows tweaks
-programs running in the background
-something like folding @ home may eat your cpu
-anitiviruses, spyware
-any other thing that may affect your systems performance?
-do you have all windows updates
EDIT:
-do you have retail versions of DirectX runtime (this is different than DirectX SDK) from here <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=886ACB56-C91A-4A8E-8BB8-9F20F1244A8E&displaylang=en">http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en</a><!-- m -->

Re: Interresting By Engine
What about the graphics drivers that I've mentioned in the previous post? Do you have the latest installed?
Is your windows theme is windows xp default theme (I don't know for service pack 3 but for earlier versions I don't recall it to be windows' default), or have you installed some 3rd party software?

I have already the Catalist 8.11..
I have install this DirectX Runtime.
-- After reboot --
It's the same problem.
I am confident we will find the problem.
Above all we are about to adopt your 3D engine.
Can you try this.
http://www.wormhole-the-game.com/Bloom.exe
It's compile with original source code.

Re: Interresting By Engine
At my system Bloom.exe starts in 2 seconds.
About the windows theme thing, if it's not windows' default theme there is a slight possibility that it may affect shader loading time.
You could try disabling this theme, but uninstalling it, and restoring all previous dll's if they were changed would be better.
I remember I used once UX Theme multipatcher or something likely called which had replaced system dll's.

Re: Interresting By Engine
this line seems interesting in your dxdiag.txt
Code:
DirectX Files Tab: The file d3d9d.dll is a debug version, which will run slower than the retail version.
this line isn't present in my version.
I'll read your file further, but it seems you have some debug version DirectX installed, instead of retail.

Re: Interresting By Engine
Have you tried DirectX SDK control Panel mentioned in the topic in previous post?
Changing Debug/Retail D3D9 Runtime?
If it won't help, please uninstall any DirectX Runtime, DirectX Developer Runtime.
And make a clean install of DirectX End-User Runtime 2008 November <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=886ACB56-C91A-4A8E-8BB8-9F20F1244A8E&displaylang=en">http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en</a><!-- m -->
